Lauren Haimelin Carter

Lauren H. Carter is a fine artist and shaman. Her work combines vivid color, line, and pattern to achieve her goal of simply creating objects of beauty. Her practices in fine art and shamanic healing are integrated, rendering her art an extension of a mindful and meditative state. This in turn encourages the viewer to assume a state of peaceful relaxation, internal connection and balance. The richness of the earthly world and the connection that humanity shares with the cosmos inspire her work.

Her watercolor paintings are lively with feeling and color. Her serene and spectacular landscape photography brings calm to the soul. Her line drawings track the energetic currents underpinning ordinary reality and soothe the rushing brain. Her extensive experience in the arts, education and art materials business has encouraged her to pursue her career as a fine artist and designer in the commercial and private sectors.

Lauren earned her B.S. in Art Education, with a concentration in Ceramics and minor in Spanish in 2002, and M.A. in Special Education in 2010. She began her study of the shamanic practices of the Q’ero people of Peru in 2004 in Cold Spring, NY, and has been in private practice as a shamanic energy healer since then. She loves the evolving process of creating and how it ties in so deeply with the healing and transformation of the spirit. After working in the arts since 2000 in various capacities (artist, art teacher, art program director, gallery & museum assistant, high end art framer, art supply e-commerce Amazon buyer & business manager, and jeweler) she relies on her varied experience to guide her forward in her career as an artist and shaman. She continues to find inspiration from within and from the materials she works with as well as from visiting museums and spending time in nature. Her love of connecting with her internal and external worlds, her family, 2 children, and with all the people she meets provides unending fuel for the creative fire.
